I wrote Amelia Moon for my niece. A tool to spark her inner courage while encouraging outer curiousity.
It took four years, chipping away at it. Sometimes in chunks. Sometimes in crumbs.
And when I put it out into the world, the story was close. But not quite right.
To me it was important to make the world exist. Because I knew I could go back and make it better.
So I returned to Sundance, enhancing the shadows and sharpening the light. Deeper family secrets, tighter pacing, richer stakes—everything tuned to honor the destiny Amelia discovers.
As fate would have it, during this window of past revision, my future was also rewritten.
We welcomed a daughter of our own.
She is the joy of my life—the polestar around which my time and energy now orbit.
Which means working on this new edition needed to fit into the early hours before she awakes, the late hours after she (finally) falls asleep, and the cracks of time when the sacred god of holy naps smiles down on us.

Why the New Edition?
After four years of tinkering, I wanted to get the story out into the world. And then once it was out there, I wanted to make it better. So I kept the core of the story and tightened certain elements while upgrading others. I think Amelia Moon and the Sundance Shadow is a stronger book than the first version.
Is the story completely different?
No—the heart remains the same. Amelia's discovery of her lineage, the Sundance Shadow mystery, Veyla's whale obsession, and the Eternal Chain's power are all here, just refined and amplified (much like the Chain itself).
What if I already read the free version?
Amelia Moon and the Sundance Shadow is the definitive edition—think of it as the "director's cut" with a tighter development and more satisfying ending. Feedback from early readers is that they enjoy revisiting Sundance for the story upgrades.
Why is it no longer free?
The first edition (Solstice Spectacular) was a beta release to share Amelia's world and gather feedback. This edition has professional-level edits, expanded depth, and is positioned as Book 1 in a multi-book series. Making it paid supports ongoing work (future books exploring Humboldt's full mentor role, deeper family backstory, more Sage lore, etc). Early adopters (like yourself) received the story for free and are getting the free “upgrade” in the Sundance Shadow.
